Over the last few years I have been privileged to have the opportunity to speak with many of the remaining stars on the 'Carry On' films all about their time on the series. Some were regulars, others semi regulars or only in one or two. Some speak with fondness of the series and their co-stars, others had a different view and experience.
Although so much time has passed since the series came to an end and despite the countless books, archive material and subject matter already available on the series I always believed that there was more to tap into from this great series.
I always try to not ask the same age old questions, but rather the questions that other fans would possibly also ask.
The legacy that the 'Carry On' films left is still as popular today as it has always been. The series helped launch the careers of some, but equally it pigeonholed others with some almost becoming 'living caricatures' of themselves. The conditions were not always favourable and the filming schedules tough. Many went onto successful film and TV careers, others ducked out of the limelight to pursue new ventures...
